FAQ
Q: Will the workshops be recorded and shared?
A: Yes! Every workshop is recorded and will be sent to everyone who registered. Recordings will also become available on the NPSC website and possibly other organizations.
Q: Are CEU's available? How do I receive them?
A: Possibly. The NPSC is in the process of reviewing each workshop individually and if approved by the educational committee, the workshop will provide CE credits once the participant passes the required quizzes. The cost for each workshop is to be determined. If the workshops are approved, registrants will be notified via email about the option for CE credits and next steps.
Q: Are there certificates given?
A: We are now providing certificates for live participation. You will receive your certificate via email after each workshop. If CE credits are approved per workshop and one decides to receive them, a certificate will also be given for CE credits.
Q: Are these workshops participatory or can I listen by phone?
A: Attendees have the choice to attend by computer or listen by phone.
Q: Do I have to attend all 9 workshops?
A: No, we understand life happens. That is why we record them.
Q: Can I have the PowerPoints used in the workshop?
A: Yes! All materials used and additional resources will be shared along with the recordings via email to those who registered.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY

I have truly enjoyed and been inspired by the bi-weekly trauma series. From my perspective, your team is having a HUGE impact in this work. Every person who is attending, regardless of organization, identity, or stage of trauma awareness or experience, is walking out of each workshop with a bit more knowledge, skills, and values for trauma-informed work (and living). This is very exciting; thank you for this offering.
Your team picked outstanding speakers, and I felt every one knocked it out of the park. I do think it is the best online event I’ve attended. There was a lot of inspiration with success stories and solid information. I was fully engaged the entire time, typing up many pages of notes, and barely ever multi-tasking (even though I’m super busy.) There was not a lot of repetition or rehashing of common knowledge (other than what was well done at the beginning to bring people up to a baseline understanding).
These are some of the best trainings that I have attended or participated in. That is a real compliment as I have lost count of the number of virtual trainings I have had since the pandemic began.
Please pass along my compliments to your colleagues who had a part in these workshops.

READ OUR STORY IN PENN STATE NEWS:
What to expect during a workshop:
The workshops are designed explicitly to build momentum; thus, each workshop is held every 2 weeks on Friday for half a day from 1:00 - 4:00 ET. Breaks and participant engagement will be built into each workshop and there will be an optional hour from 4:00 - 5:00 pm for structured debriefing (a happy hour for networking). Generally, with exceptions of the first and final workshops, there will be two 75-minute panels per workshop, each providing guidance on how to infuse trauma-informed (TI) approaches into key sectors across communities. Before each panel, an expert from the sector will set the stage for panelists. The format for each panel will be:
-
A moderator who will introduce the panelists and subject matter for 5 minutes,
-
4 panelists (with a few exceptions) for 15 minutes each (12 minutes each for panels with 5 participants), and
-
10 minutes for Q&A at the end
Themes threaded across all workshops:
-
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
-
Racial Justice
-
Community Voice
-
Cross-Sector
-
Strength-Based, not Deficits Model
-
Opportunities for Youth
-
Individuals, Families, and Communities
Workshop objectives are to:
-
Learn how community coalitions (existing and newly formed) can play an active role in making their agencies, institutions, and organizations trauma-informed (TI);
-
Identify successful TI programs and how they can be embedded in each sector and for any given groups in your community;
-
Know where to find resources that can guide implementation and evaluation of TI policies/practices;
-
Learn how to communicate with decision makers in each sector and with stakeholders in your community about TI practices and policies;
-
Further reinforce the need for TI mindsets, systems and policies by allowing participants to share their stories of trauma and resilience.
